When
contacting IndyChristian.com regarding all forms of active
participation herein, please advise us if you can affirm
in good faith this essence of our greatest common
mission. Thank you. |
If
Christianity is about love & harmony in Christ, why then is
a "Statement of Faith" necessary for active
participation at IndyChristian.com?
Wouldn't
it divide rather than unite?
To
be sure, not only is Christianity about love & harmony, IndyChristian.com
is here to also promote that very theme -- networking Christians
& ministries & businesses together in cyberspace when
perhaps other walls of separation work against unity -- like time &
space and even individual church "protectionism".
On
the other hand, the New Testament is careful to warn us of "false
teaching", and to "not be unequally yoked". How then do we
lovingly put these principles into action
here at IndyChristian.com?
Our
solution is to invite everyone to surf, read and enjoy
IndyChristian.com, readily acknowledging that no one person or
ministry has a perfect grasp on all "truth".
However,
certainly the scriptures are convincing regarding core-truth that
many ministries & people have historically agreed upon
throughout the centuries. And in particular, IndyChristian.com
seeks to work only with those entities which clearly
teach the core-truth leading to salvation
-- that is, they teach the way to eternal life. Those which
effectively teach a way that will more likely lead to hell, are not
invited to actively participate. This is our chosen dividing
line as we seek to be "equally yoked".
Every
excellent & persevering team is equally yoked around a common
purpose, although diverse in many other ways. This perhaps
becomes even more essential as the speed of life picks up, and
Christians work together at the speed of light. Yes?
So
our question is.... "What is the essence of this Christianity
that we espouse and teach?" If indeed it's been
agreed upon for many centuries and perhaps by billions of people, then
a summary of such a common understanding could be one like the Apostle's Creed.
The only remaining difficulty then is... What exactly does
each part of that mean? Therefore we perhaps need to be
certain to also affirm the scriptures as authentic and the perfect,
self-evident guide for all of life.
|
Therefore,
we embrace as our common Statement of Faith, several existing
evangelical statements, such as...
|
And
presumptuous as it may sound for IndyChristian.com to ask you
specifically to affirm one of these, please accept our sincerest
intentions to hold dear the eternal destiny of our readers.
And as well, for the mutual benefit of all active participants, we
hope to guaranty (if it were possible) the commonness of those yoked
for the Great Commission.
