God is pouring out His Spirit on all flesh!

Donna Cherry, FHL CityWide Prayer DirectorIt's been a while since I posted a blog. I'm going to try to keep you updated more often of the events to come. This is a wonderful hour of God's outpouring and at FHL we are determined to be right in the flow! The time has come.

It is now that God is pouring out His Spirit on all flesh. - Acts. 2 :17 .

More confirmation:

Isaiah 60:2 ... "For behold, darkness will cover the earth And deep darkness the peoples; But the LORD will rise upon you And His glory will appear upon you. ...

Habakkuk 2:14 "... For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of Jehovah as the waters cover the sea. ..."

Haggai 2: 6-9 "This is what the LORD Almighty says: 'In a little while I will once more shake the heavens and the earth, the sea and the dry land. I will shake all nations, and what is desired by all nations will come, and I will fill this house with glory,' says the LORD Almighty. 'The silver is mine and the gold is mine,' declares the LORD Almighty. 'The glory of this present house will be greater than the glory of the former house,' says the LORD Almighty. 'And in this place I will grant peace,' declares the LORD Almighty."

Can you imagine an outpouring of God's Presence that contains all the past revivals into one? Millions of souls drawn into the Kingdom. Experiences of God's glory poured out on new and old believers. People returning to their first love. Can you remember how " hot " you were for the Lord when you first believed? The fear and awe and reverence of the Lord will permeate your being and affect your atmosphere everywhere you go.What about being used by the Lord to heal the sick, raise the dead, cast out demons and bring souls into the Kingdom? We are each commissioned by our Lord to "..GO into all the world." - (Mark 16 : 15). We don't need permission to obey the scriptures. Just Go! Taste first and see that the Lord is good then give out what you receive.

What does this look like personally? As God's Presence gets thicker on the earth as it descends and his glory rises up in your heart it will affect your flesh and you will experience a greater revelation of His love, peace and joy because the Kingdom of God is righteousness, peace and Joy in the Holy Ghost. There is something though we have to do to receive. We have to start with a hunger for more of God's presence. If you don't have a hunger then pray for a hunger and do what you did when you first believed. Your river inside will respond and release to your flesh - mind, will, emotions that God has already put inside of you. Have others pray for you. Come and dine - it's for you and yours!

We, as a CityWide ministry effort are pressing into activities to see the body restored, re-visioned and refreshed in God's Presence to cause them to be active citizens of Kingdom expansion. We are equipping, healing, and many opportunities to join in on what God is doing in the city. We manifest the joy and see regular impartations of it. We are seeing healings and restorations take place.

Watch for my next blog for details for Jan 9th gathering and Jan 31st Citywide at 6pm Vineyard North side for corporate times together.

God bless you, Donna

Bobby Kennedy... 40 Years Later

[from Pastor John Hay's 'Bike Hiker' blog...]

APRIL 4, 1968. Friday, April 4 marks the 40th anniversary of King’s death. On that evening, anguish-driven riots broke out in nearly every major American city. But not in Indianapolis. On that night, Bobby Kennedy happened to be in Indy on a presidential campaign stop. A planned rally was scrapped for a more solemn announcement and spur-of-the-moment speech. His speech turned away wrath. The place is now marked by a monument in Kennedy-King Park on Indy’s near-northside. Here’s the heart of Kennedy’s speech that night:

“Ladies and Gentlemen,

“I'm only going to talk to you just for a minute or so this evening, because I have some very sad news for all of you… and, I think, sad news for all of our fellow citizens, and people who love peace all over the world..."

The Face of the Church

The other day I was talking with a local pastor. He was lamenting about the limitations of his church building and the exterior presence it has to the community. A facility he inherited, and believed it was serving as a barrier to what he would like the church to be. With great passion though he talked about how many great people at the core of the church; serving, giving, and experiencing community.

As I was reflecting on our talk a couple days later, it dawned on me their issue isn’t the facility. I mean, clearly it is what it is, but I came to the conclusion that isn’t the real issue at all. The issue isn’t the facility, but that the physical structure has become for their church the primary face in their community.

And that has had me wrestling with this over the past few days: Why would we ever allow a physical structure to be the primary face of our church in our community?

Whether the facility is old and outdated for the types of people in the local community or just experienced a multi-million dollar make over, isn’t the issue the same? And I am not an anti-facility type leader. Missional leaders develop facilities as tools, lighthouses, and training grounds to mobilize disciple making around the world. And in doing so, it is a beautiful thing.

And many of us as leaders for Jesus believe that the church is the people. We can quote a great deal of verses on proper ecclesiology and have read a great deal of books from researchers like Dr. Thom Rainer, Christian Schwarz, etc. All very essential, but we often end up acting as if the primary face of Jesus in the community is a physical structure and not the stories of lives changed by the Gospel of God’s grace.

And I believe that one of our challenges as called leaders to influence and impact Indy in such a time as this is to reject any system that forces our hand to establish a facility as the primary face in the community of the Body of Christ. And in so doing limit God’s presence and Kingdom to a building while missing the point of his Body to be the living expressions for the beauty of the local church.

The true face of the local church that will preach a better sermon than most of us preach and fills the gap of any facility in the hearts of those lost in darkness are the people whom encountered Jesus and living it out. We must become the primary “face” to our neighbors of God’s local church.
